Land and Sea Fit is a weekly by donation outdoor fitness class focused on building and maintaining practical fitness for adventures in and around Cortes Island. It blends strength, mobility, holds, elasticity, and running/walk components, done at the Pavilion downtown Manson’s.

This class is designed to fill gaps in your physical routine and help keep you fit, or get you fit, for trail running, hiking, paddling, swimming, biking, and climbing.

When and Where

Day: Mondays, January through to the end of February 2026

Time: 12:20 pm

Location: The Pavilion at Mansons Landing

Duration: Approximately 45 to 55 minutes

Weather: Rain, snow, or shine

Cost: By donation


What to Expect

Each session has two main parts:

  1. Movement prep, drills and strength

    This includes light stretching, mobility, balance work, isometric holds, plyometrics, and simple strength and elasticity work. The focus is on preparing the body to move well, not exhausting it. Often body weight or using Kettlebell weights.

  2. Run/Walk

    From the Pavilion we will head out for a short run or run/walk option. Routes/efforts will vary week to week and may include flat sections, gentle hills, trails, or intervals. You can move at your own pace, stay together as a group, or break off as needed.

Some weeks the emphasis will be more on drills and strength. Other weeks the emphasis will be more on movement and distance.

Who It Is For

This class is suitable for beginner to intermediate levels.

It is a good fit if you:

  • Want to get back into running or outdoor movement

  • Are comfortable being outside, occasionally in some dirt, cold, and wet weather

  • Enjoy moving with others and spending time outdoors

  • Want to build fitness that supports outdoor adventure, not just workouts

If you can comfortably jog 400 metres, do some skipping on the spot, and hold a plank for 20 sec you should be within range for this class.


What to Bring

  • Comfortable outdoor clothing, appropriate for the weather

  • Layers you can remove as you warm up

  • A watch or stopwatch if you like tracking time, optional
